We here at THECOOLTV love our lady rockers! I for one go back to lady rockers such as Joan Jett- Lita Ford-And Amy Lee of Evanescence-Who is one of the more talented women of rock today. But there was one lady who I had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing this past year– which is my pick for “HOTTEST” Lady Rocker of the Year.
Alexis Brown the front lady for the band “Straight Line Stitch”. Alexis can tear it up on stage, and rock the night away for all her fans. Enjoy this interview with her from the Mayhem Tour this past summer.

Its going to be an amazing New Year to see a concert, and picking up some new cd’s–or is that done anymore???? Its all online stuff now! I still like going out to my local music shop and buying a cd. Hell I remember buying records…please dont ask what a record is!!!!
Some of my fav’s to be going out on tour this coming year and pushing new songs include…
U2–what a great show they put on–amazing!!!
The ohhhh. sooo sexy Taylor Swift will be a must see!!
Yes the BOSS is back! Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Its the first time Bruce is with the band without the late and great Clerence Clemons..should be interesting.
The material girl will also be back. So many years and still knows how to flaunt it! Madonna is the queen and king of music!
Oh yes.. Ozzy and the boys of Black Sabbath will rock the New Year!! Now this is a must–cant miss–concert! Ozzy cant talk much, but he sure as hell can crank it out on stage…would be cool to see some bats flying around
And lastly one of my all time favorite rock bands, that should have never parted ways. VAN HALEN! And yes Diamond Dave will be up front dancing and jumping around as the main man again!! I could be wrong but their last album together goes back to 1983! And here you go with that famous song, and a new trailer for the New Year…
There have been a few bands that have come out of the Boston area, ok maby more than just a few. Two bands that come to mind are “Aerosmith”, and one of my favorites who share the name with the city itself “Boston”. Ive been to their concerts more than I can remember, even got beat up by one of the “Aerosmith’s” body guards for getting to close to the stage–oh what a great memory! But anyways, there is a New / fresh / kick ass / ROCKING band thats out of Boston simply named “Super Prime”. The band consists of Adam who plays guitar and is on vocals–Austin who also is on vocals and plays Bass and lastly Marcus who bangs it out on drums!
“Super Prime” is one band to look out for in this new year! Just like “Aerosmith” that dreamed on, and “Boston” who had more than a feeling, “Super Prime” combines their dreams and feelings in their music to maby — just maby be # 3 on my list of great Boston bands! Please enjoy this interview I did with the boys on their tour bus.

2011 was a monumental year for Vybz Kartel, one of Dancehall’s most recognizable figures. With the release of his critically acclaimed album “Kingston Story” on Mixpak records, Vybz solidified his place as the king of the Jamaican dancehall. Vybz seemed to be on top off it all, scoring the cover of Fader magazine and managing his empire of Vybz branded products which include; rum, clothing, condoms and of course “cake soap“.
All seemed well in Vybz’s world until news broke on in early October that Vybz along with some of his associates, had been charged with murder.
Following the incarceration of Kartel, whose real name is Adiijah Palmer, police released details claiming they had video as well as physical evidence linking Kartel to two separate murders. Besides being hit with two murder charges, Kartel was also charged with illegal possession of a weapon as well as a ganja charge. The shocking turn of events left the dancehall world upside down. To many Jamaicans the accusations came as a total surprise, but it seems as though a few wise old souls may have seen it coming.
The Vybz Kartel dancehall fans had grown to know over the last couple of years, since he squashed his beef with dancehall hero Mavado, was preoccupied with singing songs about money, cars, women and wine. Jamaica and dancehall fans alike seemed to have forgotten about the Vybz Kartel of years passed who was known for his songs based on tails of violence, drugs, guns, revenge and murda.
2009 Seemed to be a turning point for Adiijah Palmer. Vybz Kartel and Mavado, with the aide of the Jamaican government and a Kingston famous drug lord, publicly called an end to their feud which was at the time literally dividing the nation as a whole. With the public end to the feud behind him, Vybz moved forward with a renewed sense of positivity and optimism, leaving behind him his days of singing about violence and revenge.
What could have caused Vybz Kartel to changes his ways? To get a better understanding of that you must first get to the bottom of why Vybz Kartel had a feud with Mavado in the first place. Vybz and Mavado were both originally aligned with dancehall legend Bounty Killer and his Gully crew in their humble beginnings. In the following interview the famed Bounty Killer speaks on his relation with Vybz (who he refers to as his “child”) and why he will never work with him or his Gaza crew again.
Killer speaks on why he and his Gully crew publicly split with Palmer. Although it’s difficult to make out all of what Bounty says in this interview, he clearly says “I will not immoral without a line where we don’t cross, Kartel never stop “. In this interview Bounty Killer mentions that Adiijah Palmer is a 33rd degree Free Mason. This fact has been publicly acknowledged by Kartel himself. He’s even gone so far as to tout it in the lyrics to one of his songs; “Mi reach 33 degreess heights a evil”. Bounty killer goes on to say “..A man like that is a sinner, deep Satanic..”. Bounty Killer mentions that one of his main issues with Vybz Kartel is his endorsement of the skin bleaching of dark skinned people. He makes an interesting point when he equates skin bleaching with the selling of one’s soul. ”When they bleach out their face they can’t change it again and when you give away your soul you can’t regain it.” Bounty Killer makes it clear where he stands on Vybz’s relation to the secret fraternal order but goes on to say that he is not seeking a feud with Vybz only that he will never work with him again.
So when a man that goes by the name Bounty Killer refuses to work with Vybz because he believes he has sold his soul to the devil, it’s hard to not wonder if there is some merit to the accusations. Vybz had it all, success, fame, money and the admiration of a nation but somehow it seems to have slipped through his hands. Although he has not been proven guilty in a court of law his situation does not look optimistic. Did Vybz get caught up in a world of greed and power? Did his thirst for control ultimately lead to his downfall?
“Yeah man, I want to be everything. I want to be the omnipotent. In terms of owning everything I do, because Vybz Kartel is a person who loves control.” (Fader Magazine #74)
The question is how far was Vybz willing to go to achieve his goal? Now whether you believe in God or the Devil, it’s hard not to see a transition in the life style and ways of Vybz Kartel since he publicly ended his feud with Mavado. With his shift from singing songs of murder to singing about more positive things, Adiijah seemed to be leaving the old Vybz Kartel behind. Despite his transition towards positivity it seems as though Kartel couldn’t escape his violence filled past. Regardless of the logistics of trading one’s soul to the devil, it seems evident that there would be some sort of consequence for the decision. Most people that believe in the devil would say that if a person has sold their soul to the devil they will be sent to hell in the afterlife. As Vybz Kartel sits in a Jamaican jail cell, it must appear to him as if he is already there.
Whether or not Vybz Kartel made a deal, figuratively or literally with the devil, he did make one of the best albums of 2011 and for that we congratulate him!!
The 80′s? How can you describe the most bodacious, hellacious, and most radical decade of all time??? Motley Crue had the right saying, it was the “DECADE OF DECADENCE”!
Face it—the 60′s brought us the hippies, the 70′s brought us disco, the 90′s–the 90′s?? I dont think I even turned on the radio in the 90′s. And todays music is all taken and stolen from “The 80′s”! Yes my friends before there was Lady GaGa there was Madonna Before Christina Aguilera there was Tiffany And before Britney Spears there was Debbie GibsonThe 80′s started it all!! I would wake up every morning rocking out to Billy Idol, getting ready for school dressing like Prince, and then while in school checking out all the HOT Valley Girls! Yes the 80′s were full of baggy pants and big hair, and I must say that I miss those days.
The music was simply amazing! I would turn on my local rock radio station and listen to Bon Jovi, Quiet Riot, and who can forget about the best female rock band of all time in Vixen! Then I would go down the dial to the pop station and listen to Boy George, yes I said it–Boy George! Some Sheena Easton and who can ever forget about the biggest boy toy of them all in Madonna, who is still kicking ass and selling out arenas! The 80′s had it all, and there will never be a decade like it. So to all my 80′s children, what is your most favorite memory of the 80′s, the clothing, music, hair or those HOT Valley Girls? So dont gag yourself with a spoon and comment away….
This past year I was lucky enough to start working for THECOOLTV!! I have already done plenty of promo events and interviews, one of which stands out for me as a favorite. It was when I caught up with David Ellefson from Megadeth at the Mayhem tour backstage. So to all Megadeth fans out there…enjoy!

I was shopping the other day and I found this classic album from renowned DJ/Producer Goldie. It broke my heart to see it there mixed in with the riff raff of the $.99 clearance section. It was starring at me like puppy at the pound. I couldn’t imagine that this album could be forgotten and discarded like it was. Despite the fact that I have owned the album for 13 years and I really didn’t need another copy of it… I bought it anyway. I just couldn’t leave such an important piece of genre defining electronic music sitting there unappreciated.
Goldie burst on to the electronic music scene in 1996 with this album, which is believed by many people including Robert Dimery, author of the book “1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die”, to be one of the best electronic albums of all time. When the album was released it received much critical acclaim in Goldie’s home of the UK as well as across the pond in the US. The album combined the intense drum breaks of the emerging drum n’ bass and jungle scene with sultry female vocals, smooth strings and piano sounds associated with modern R&B music. Timeless helped the emerging jungle scene gain credibility as legitimate form of music and not just something kids with glow sticks and candy necklaces listened to at raves in sketchy abandoned warehouses.
With the success of the Timeless album Goldie and his Metal Headz label mates, began to define the drum n’ bass sound that would be associated with the UK. Besides being a talented DJ and Producer, Goldie was also a well known and respected graffiti artist.
Goldie has had continued success since the release of Timeless. How many DJs can you think of that have become a villain in a James Bond movie( Buliion-The World Is Not Enough), worked with Prince Harry and stared in a British version of dancing with the stars?? If you aren’t familiar with Goldie or the Metal Headz label he helped to create then you should do yourself a favor and check him out!!

Learning about Goldie will definitely give you and insight into the inspiration and origination of modern day forms of electronic music like dubstep and grime music!!
